Gingivitis is Avoidable, Isn’t It?

oral irrigator

It seems that every time you turn on the TV these days you see a commercial telling you how attractive a clean, healthy mouth is. Whether or not this is true, it is true that a good oral hygiene routine will help prevent the gum disease gingivitis. A good oral irrigator may be helpful in this matter.

The early symptoms of gingivitis may not be easy to recognize, usually a mild swelling and redness of the gums. The next stage is more easily detected. The inflammation of the gums becomes more advanced and there will be pain and bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth. This is the point at which most people take notice and schedule an appointment with their dentist.

If the condition is allowed to continue the gums will recede back from the teeth making the teeth look longer. An ozone generator may be useful to make an oxygenated mouthwash. In advanced cases, a gap my appear between the gums and teeth. If the owner of these teeth and gums does not now seek treatment they may end up with periodontitis. This is an infection of the bones of the jaw and face and it can cause permanent damage.

The best course of action, of course, is to take steps to ensure that you do not get gingivitis in the first place. Regular teeth brushing and flossing is vital. This not only removes the plaque which is the root cause of gingivitis, but it also stimulates blood flow which keeps the gums healthier overall.

Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are an integral part of any oral hygiene routine. The hydro floss is a good irrigator, not to be confused with the hydro pulse. A dentist may recognize the symptoms of gingivitis before you do and can suggest a course of action to remedy the problem. More importantly, regular cleanings, in combination with effective brushing and flossing, will help to prevent the onset of the disease in the first place.

oral irrigator

Gum disease is not thought about until you experience signs. We’re trained from an early age to brush. After that, we don’t think about our mouth again, even when eating or talking. Additional care is needed to prevent hidden bacteria from attacking the gums and teeth. At that point periodontal disease is present.

To prevent gum disease, you need to take easy steps for successful oral hygiene. The most common is regular dental visits for routine exams and cleanings. During exams you teeth will be cleaned and any plaque build up will be scraped away. Usually, you won’t recognize plaque build up when brushing. If the plaque is not removed during normal cleanings, it could turn into a harder buildup known as tarter. This is harder to remove, and a professional will need to be consulted.

When you notice your gums bleed when you brush your teeth, your gums are slightly swelling or you have an increase of bad breath that is the early stage, medically termed as periodontitis. To avoid this it is necessary to exercise good oral hygiene. Without attending to these signs, the problem will progress causing it to affect the tissues and bones. The teeth and bones will degenerate resulting in a loss. You can prevent this from happening early on.

To insure you’re doing everything you possible to ward off gum disease don’t, miss your regularly scheduled visits to your dentist, every six months. Always brush your teeth after you eat and after daily treats. Along with brushing, you should also get into the habit of flossing regularly. If you happen to notice warning signs, a quick visit to your dentist will help fight the progressive stages. If caught soon enough prevention measures can be taken.

If you’ve already noticed signs, you may be experiencing an unsettling feeling right now. Remember, gum disease can be treated.

Take steps to stop the progression by visiting a professional. Keep brushing and flossing. You’ll be on your way to restoring sparkling teeth and healthy gums.

Periodontal Disease – Do You Know Much About This Common Disease?

dental care

Periodontal Disease is actually the swelling of various tissues in your mouth. This actually leads to bone loss of your individual teeth and possible loss of the teeth all together. It is important to watch for signs or symptoms of periodontal disease. There are several different ways to go about preventing and treating periodontal disease which we will discuss later. One method might include using a home ozonator to make an oxygenated mouthwash. The body’s immune response to the bacteria on your teeth is what ends up causing and contributing to periodontal disease.

Periodontal disease mainly comes from the lack of proper brushing, flossing, and use of mouthwash. The bacterium sits on the teeth and eventually causes an infection. The body’s immune response then kicks in and tries to destroy the bacterial infection. However this only makes the situation worse and usually causes periodontal disease. One might try ora-md .If left untreated this disease can lead to bone loss of the teeth and even completely loosing ones teeth. Which is why this is a serious disease and needs to be taken seriously and treated properly.

The ways in which you can prevent periodontal disease are actually relatively straightforward. They involve proper brushing of the individual’s teeth. A lot of people believe that when brushing you need to use an over adequate amount of force to properly clean teeth. However this is not true and actually using too much force can help to damage your gums.

When brushing you should use a lesser amount of force but make sure to reach and cover more of your teeth and gums then just the front side. Also it is important to properly floss and use mouthwash each and every time you clean your teeth. The last step to proper prevention involves regular visits to the dentist.

Any mouth disease should not be taken lightly including but not limited to periodontal disease. If at any point you think you may have the symptoms of periodontal disease you should contact your dentist and set up an appointment right away.

Bleeding Gums May Be Indicative Of Gingivitis

dental care

If you find blood on your toothbrush, even when brushing your teeth gently, you could be suffering from gingivitis. This is an
inflammation of the gums caused by bacterial growth. It is found between the gaps in the gums and the teeth and on the teeth themselves. Additional symptoms of gingivitis may include but are not exclusive to a bright red or shiny appearance of the gums, gums that are tender when touched, swollen gums which are abnormally enlarged, mouth sores and bad breath or halitosis.

Gingivitis is a periodontal (gum) disease that is very varied, and the etiology has been separated into both local and systemic causes which involve inflammation and or infection. This infection is able to destroy the supporting tissue of the teeth if it is left unattended. Resulting bad breath from the inflammation is able to cause loss of self-esteem, and in severe cases even social isolation.

There is mounting evidence from medical researchers that gum diseases such as gingivitis may make people more prone to general inflammations of the body, heart disease, osteoporosis, pancreatic cancer, stroke and arteriosclerosis.

The bacterial plaque and calculus (tartar); plaque accumulates in the gaps between the gum and teeth and tartar actually forms on the teeth and one way to treat this problem is by dental debridement. This means apart from a normal brushing routine, you seek the professional assistance of a dental hygienist or dentist to remove the plaque and tartar by scaling and root planing.

Even though the accumulations of these bacteria may be very small it can still produce toxins which cause gum inflammation. Over years the build up of this infection has the affect of causing deep fissures between the teeth and gum, affecting the ligaments, bone and gum tissue which holds the tooth in place. This loss of supporting tissue can cause the tooth to become loose, in which case it may fall out on its own or require extraction.

Professional dental cleaning is suggested traditionally, for every 6 months. However in the case of recurring gingivitis inflammation it may be recommended for every 3 – 4 months, as it takes plaque approximately 3 months to grow back again.

Dental Tape Might Be Better Than Dental Floss, Here Is Why….

ozone generator

Whether you would like to use dental tape or dental floss, using one or the other is importanl to your oral health. Flossing and using tape will help to keep your teeth and gums healthy. This can work to prevent or help end gum disease such as gingivitis and the more advanced periodontitis. The latter is an especially damaging problem, as it can result in tooth loss if left untreated.

The choice between dental floss or tape is a personal one. It all depends on which you like best. It depends, as well, on which you feel works best for you. The important thing is that you use one or the other each day, in conjunction with regular brushing. An oral irrigator is also a great tool.

The advantage of dental tape, is that it is bigger and thicker. In my opinion, just the pure physics of it, makes it the clear winner to do a better job.

You are, of course, supposed to brush your teeth at least twice a day. Some dentists will tell you to floss twice a day as well, while others say that once is fine. Typically, if you have sensitive gums, you have a problem. Healthy gums are not sensitive. Another good tool is an ozone generator. With this device can make an oxygenated mouthwash.

Now, what are the differences between these two dental tools? Well, as most of us know, floss is a thin, waxed string substance which fits between the teeth. It is ideal for getting pieces of food and plaque from between them.

Tape tends to be wider and thicker. Floss can be a bit thin. That can be a problem for people whose teeth are closely crowded together. Floss tends to work more easily between crowded teeth. Some people even say that it has the ability to remove stains from the teeth.

Whether you decide to use tape of floss, make sure you do it regularly. Further more, if doing this makes you gums bleed, talk to your periodontist immediately. Bleeding whilst flossing is often a sign of gum disease.
